Turquoise Horse is in development on a large slate of scripted and unscripted feature films and series. The projects below include the public slate.

Black Mesa

Project Stage: Scripted Pilot, Packaging

Type: Scripted Series

Synopsis: A ruthless struggle over the coal and water beneath Annie Blackhorse's feet, is erupting in Arizona and Washington, DC. To the outside world, it appears as a clash between the Navajo and Hopi over a 4,000-square-mile area of Arizona desert called Black Mesa. To political insiders and energy corporations, it’s a divide-and-conquer play for 21 billion tons of coal and 45 billion gallons of water.

In the style of Chinatown meets Chernobyl, our story unfolds in 1962, focusing on the exploitation of Black Mesa. Five cultures collide—Navajo, Mormon, Hopi, Government, and Global Energy—in a battle for the American West.

Annie Blackhorse, the first female and newly elected member of the Navajo Tribal Council, finds herself at the center of this brutal land dispute. Torn between two worlds and raised under the shadow of her powerful Chieftain father Chee Blackhorse, Annie must balance her political ambitions with the existential needs of the Diné people.
